How is the price data stored in hbase? I believe that impala only handles
ascii types, so if the price values are encoded as binary data they will
not work in impala.

If you make a test table with the prices stored like "50.50" instead of the
binary representation, I think it will work.

In addition, does the query work in hive? I thought you had to have a
serdeproperties value like "...d:p#b" for binary data to work.

Hi Ben,

Moving this over to impal...@cloudera.org, which should be able to help
you out with this issue.

We have created the following table in Hive

TBLPROPERTIES("hbase.table.**name <http://hbase.table.name>" =

When we use impala to query it, the doubles are null values? Should we
be creating the table in hive using a different syntax? Looking at this doc
ciiu_impala_hbase.html<http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera-content/cloudera-docs/Impala/latest/Installing-and-Using-Impala/ciiu_impala_hbase.html>it seems to use strings, and ints for creating tables values. Can you
create tables in impala?
