Hi Harsh,

I executed the your commands and got the same output as you can see below.

[[email protected] ~]# cat /data/dfs/nn/current/seen_txid
2647

[[email protected] ~]# cat /dfs/nn/current/seen_txid
2647

Yes it seems I have two NN dirs configured. But how to resolve this issue.

Please help me on this.

Harsh J: The below seems to be your issue: 2013-04-17 14:43:31,335 FATAL org.apache.hadoop.hdfs.server.namenode.NameNode: Exception in namenode join java.io.IOException: Gap in transactions. Expected to be able to read up until at least txid 2647 but unable to find any edit logs containing txid 2647 I also notice you seem to have two NN dirs configured. Can you paste/pastebin the outputs of the below commands from your NN?: ls -l /data/dfs/nn/current cat /data/dfs/nn/current/seen_txid ls -l
