Subject: RE: Getting kernel panic when installer starts formatting
partitions.
Was: [Centos] How to get 3Ware 9500S controller card working in CentOS 3.1?

In regard of the e-mail sent on Jul/16/04 about the 3Ware 9500S.

Has anyone experienced/solved this issue ?? I'm having a similar problem, I
already have the system installed on a separate disk, now I want to make the
filesystem on the RAID partition (using 3Ware 9500S-8).
Hi David,
I definitely solved my problems recompiling the kernel with 3ware
7006-2 RAID1 driver statically compiled in.

I read this thread :
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id1434#c43

and after some problem (EXT3 error) I decided to recompile from
standard sources.

Sure, thanks to Scott suggestion, You can also recompile only the
3ware driver modules and all work fine but the CPU iowait under
some circumstances go up 70/80% and this is unacceptable.
