Autoresponder busy studying Bulgarian EBCDIC locales. No, I'm
not making this up. I wish.

    That needs to say

    /FLOAT=G_FLOAT

    instead of

    FLOAT/G_FLOAT

    The -Duser_c_flags=/FLOAT=G_FLOAT in your configuration looks right,
    so I'm not sure what's happening but will look into it.

    I can't reproduce this doing a G_FLOAT build on Alpha. What do you see from doing

    $ search config.sh ccflags, config_args

    and

    $ search [.ext.attrs]descrip.mms ccflags

    Okay, I forgot to build from the rooted logical. That gets me past ext/attrs

    But this doesn't look too good:

    It looks like MakeMaker ignores the rooted logical, or did I miss something?

    I'm not convinced. By setting up mock-ups you are not testing the
    real thing: you are testing mock-ups. It's really emptying shotguns
    at decoys and concluding that yup, we are eating duck tonight.

    I think you are getting the after effects of an existing descrip.mms
    rebuilding its own replacement. Probably time to make realclean from
    the top and start over.
